In the spirit of Buffalo weather, nothing is more consistently inconsistent than our springtime. However, this truly is a blessing in disguise. Many of our local boutiques are sympathetic to the needs of a true fashionista in a city where layers are of utmost importance. The quintessential clothing item that truly rejects the somber mood of a rainy day is the perfect trench coat. When the right piece is found by the right person, a rainy day is cause to celebrate with a flourish of color and personality beneath ones umbrella.
From Ann Taylor’s sleek and sophisticated style to the patterned whimsy of Michael Kors; the French romance of Oscar De La Renta and the bold and futuristic flair of Phillip Lim, the NYC runways are alight with coats and jackets of every style. Thankfully our community’s commitment to fashion gives us the opportunity to wear these styles at home.
Making the trench your own is as simple as binding it together with your own special touch. Our models are shown with layers of texture and color spilling out of the piece, and finishing off the look by wrapping it together loosely with a thin belt that boasts a simple, yet all important attention to detail that others will instantly notice.

Just because the skies are grey there is no excuse to fear experimenting with bright pieces either! Take that multicolored top you’ve been saving for the summer, don’t hesitate to try on a few skirts with ruffles or lightly patterned shorts and slip into a pair or galoshes because the rain slicker is a solid frame for both the utilitarian and a person who wants to really pull the observer into their presence.
