For the second year in a row, the Cobblestone Criterium Twilight Series is about to turn a segment of quiet downtown streets into a hotbed of activity. The first race of the season kicks off next Thursday, with the B-race beginning at 6:30pm and the A-race starting shortly before 7:30pm.
Race Promoter Frank Grillo told me that this year is going to be better than the last due to the amount of interest in the race as well as the extended season. “We’ve expanded it to eleven races,” he told me. “Or three races a month over the course of the season. We’re going to have one kids race a month in-between A and B races. We’ve got some really good interest from the Canadian cycling clubs as well as the riders in Jamestown and Rochester. The B-races will see caps at around 50 riders while we’re allowing up to 75 riders in the A-races.”
