Planning on cooking an intimate candlelight dinner for you and your sweetie for Valentine’s Day, but you don’t have any candlesticks to set the mood? No reason to fear, Buffalo ReUse is here!
Tonight from 4 to 5PM, Buffalo ReUse is hosting a candlestick-making workshop at 158 Eaton Street. Create your own romantic candlesticks out of spindles from old staircases to give as a gift or simply to light any room to enchant your special someone on Valentine’s Day. Nothing is better than surprising your honey with something homemade that’s straight from the heart.
Buffalo ReUse is asking for people to bring their own spindles if possible, in order to make the workshop cost-free. If not, they are available for purchase at the Buffalo ReUse store for $3 each. Suggested workshop donation is $5.
For those who are single and just looking for something fun to do during this sappy love-fest weekend, Buffalo ReUse would like to be your blind date, so why not come on down and show them some love on Saturday, February 13th. On this day there will be two opportunities to spend time with ReUse and get to know what they’re all about.
Option 1, you can spend the day volunteering with ReUse, contributing in all different kinds of projects from 10AM to 4PM, but be sure to wear warm clothing.
“It depends on the weather, so if it’s not raining then we’ll be outside working. We’ll also be in the store, in the yard, building shelves, doing light-rehab work, and cleaning up around the store,” said Director of Community Programs Caesandra Seawell.
Option 2 involves joining ReUse for Ping-Pong and Potluck from 6:30 to 9PM at 312 Normal Avenue. Everyone is welcome to come on down and play multiple rounds, since they will be hitting the ball back and forth until the night is over.
“There will be prizes for the people who show up to volunteer and also for the ping-pong champion,” said Seawell. And who knows, you may find love during the volley.
