It’s become a tradition, February rolls around and Chef Adam Goetz of Sample Restaurant knows it’s time to start experimenting with aphrodisiacs. He pulls out his reference list of foods that are considered aphrodisiacs and asks himself, “How can I reinvent these ingredients?” Once again he has created a delicious menu which creatively incorporates almost all of the aphrodisiac foods listed on his reference list.
Couples are greeted with a chocolate covered strawberry martini. They start their feast with a trio of hors d’oeuvres including: Oyster “Rockefeller”–baked oyster with garlic braised mustard greens and basil infused hollandaise, Beef Bernaise–crispy fried bernaise with roasted asparagus, lemon confit and beef powder and Fennel and Leek Soup–creamy and served with nutmeg and carrot oil. The main course is a Seared Kobe Beef Petite Strip Steak prepared with potato mouseline, cayenne marinated onion rings and buerre rouge.
The meal finishes with a Pineapple Upside-down Cake served with honey gelato, raspberry sauce and candied pistachios. (Items in bold are aphrodisiacs.) Chef Adam doesn’t guarantee after dinner results but he will root for you. The price for this delicious meal and fun filled evening is $48 for 2 (or per couple). The feast is offered all weekend, from Friday until Sunday.
