UB Bulls Starting Quarterback Zach Maynard Leaves Program

When head coach Turner Gill left UB for Kansas, everyone knew the program would likely take a step backward.  Now, unfortunately, the program is taking another hit as starting quarterback Zach Maynard has decided to leave the program.  It’s not immediately clear as to why Maynard is leaving but there appears to be differences with new coach Jeff Quinn

Coach Quinn released the following statment:

“I’m very disappointed in Zach’s decision to leave our program prior to
getting to know our coaching staff,” Quinn said in a statement released
by the school. “That being said, we are only interested in guys that
are passionate about being a Buffalo Bull in our football family. In
line with our ‘Next Bull In’ philosophy, we will not let this deter us
from our goal of playing for championships.”

Maynard was the only quarteback on the UB roster with any experience. The sophomore threw for 2,694 yards last year with 18 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.  ESPN is speculating that with Maynard’s departure so close to signing day, Coach Quinn might need to look to junior colleges for immediate help for next season.
