The Belle Center has reopened its Child Care Center for the first time in 2 years, presenting a more vibrant and equipped setting for the infants, toddlers and preschoolers it serves.
Over $270,000 in grants from The John R. Oishei Foundation and BMHA have gone towards the newly renovated space, purchase of equipment and training of staff for the much needed center that provides assistance for parents who need child care while working or furthering their education.
Communications Director Callie Johnson says, “Holistically we serve all parents, but being that The Belle Center hosts multiple programs like the Buffalo AmeriCorps, Adult Education Center, Department of Social Services and others…parents who attend these services can register their child in day care and proceed on to their GED classes, department of social services work, or direct impact service with the Buffalo AmeriCorps – all at one convenient location.” Johnson says the center has a “no excuses” type of system that offers services that directly meet the needs of the people who come to the Center to better themselves.
Department of Social Services fee reimbursement is available for those who meet the qualifications. Scholarships are also available to others in need.
The Belle Child Care Director- Laurie Beck has 15 years experience directing Day Cares for YWCA and CAO Head Start and enjoys the respect of the child care community. She says, “With our beautiful facility and experienced day care staff, we value the opportunities we get to share with the children and their parent(s).”
The Day Care is open to the public. The Belle Center provides services for children ages six weeks to 12 years, Monday through Friday, 7AM to 6PM, at 104 Maryland Street, directly on bus route #29 and 2 blocks from the #5.
