Title: Manager West Side Bazaar
Council
Member David Rivera and the Westminster Economic Development Initiative (WEDI)
are proud to announce that the West Side Bazaar is hiring a Manager through the
Buffalo AmeriCorps. The job will be housed at WEDI and funding for the
position is being made available through Council Member Rivera’s office.
The person needs to be between 18-24 years old and must be hired by December
31st.

Position
Description: The West Side Bazaar Manager will be responsible for all of the
daily and weekly operations of an international themed Bazaar that will be
based on the City of Buffalo’s West Side.
This dynamic project is yet to start but there is an energized group of
stakeholders that have been meeting for the past year, and this employee will
be responsible for bringing that vision to fruition.
The
ideal candidate will have the following abilities:
-Ability
to work in a fast paced environment
-Accountable
and able to meet deadlines
-Ability
to work well with a diverse group of partners including refugees, economic
development officials, and government
-Ability
to implement and carry out a business plan that has been developed by the
bazaar committee
-Ability
to carry out property oversight
-Ability
to convene and facilitate regular meetings of interested stakeholder groups
-Ability
to learn and carry out fiscal duties
-Person
must be a self starter as this position requires person to often work
independently, to address issues and problems and either solve them or notify
the proper people and then be a part of the resolution
-Assist
in screening and developing the bazaar merchants
-Oversee
maintenance of the bazaar space and work with the landlord to ensure continued
proper running of the leased facility space
-Oversee
the daily operations of the bazaar, all merchant activities making certain that
the established guidelines are followed
-Resolve
merchant issues as quickly as possible and alert Board of Directors to problems
that cannot be resolved
-Be
present at all hours that the bazaar is open each week (probably 30 hours)
-Keep
track of merchant rent payments and alert Board of any delinquencies
-Conduct
regular merchant meetings
-Offer
assistance wherever needed to the merchants in their daily operations of their
booths

This
position is full time, 37 – 40 hours including weekend and evening hours

will work under the supervision of Westminster Economic Development Initiative

Bi-weekly
living stipend, $11,400/year
Education
Award of $4,725 after completion of 1,700 hour terms.
