Two local groups, Pixie Mamas Dog Rescue
and Pole Play Dance Studio, are coming together On December 19th at the Riviera Theatre to help raise
money for mans’ best friend (the 4-legged kind).
Pixie Mamas Rescue
(PMR) is a group of
volunteer dog lovers whose mission is to rescue, provide sanctuary, and
ultimately to re-home abandoned, stray and neglected dogs. They also assist
dogs who are unable to remain in their homes, no matter the reason. Specializing in smaller breed dogs,
sometimes known as “palm puppies,” PMR understands that these small
breeds are not simply fashion accessories, and they need as much attention and
affection as any other breed.
Members of PMR endeavor to match these toy breeds with owners who
understand this.
In an effort to raise funds to care for
their foster charges, A Holiday Variety Show will take place at the Riviera
Theatre in North Tonawanda, with holiday themed dancing, singing and
entertainment performed by the Eye Candy Burlesque Dance Troupe (above). Riviera Theatre Executive Director Frank
Cannata and Chelsea Celotto (top image), Owner of Pole Play Dance Studio, had the vision of
bringing live entertainment back to the Riviera all for a good cause this
holiday season
Celotto says, “All proceeds
collected at the Holiday Show will go to the Pixie Mamas Dog Rescue Group. All PMR dogs are housed in foster homes where they
are provided with an enormous amount of love and any medical attention that may
be required to insure that they are in good health before adoption. They are
all spayed or neutered and brought up-to-date on shots before being placed in
their new homes. All dogs are evaluated for temperament and personality. This
helps to place them in homes that are well suited to their needs and to the
needs of their future owners.”
