On my return from Mexico yesterday, I was greeted with an email from my friend Mitch asking what was up with Guy Fieri. How could Mitch have known I was with a group of people (including my sister) from Humboldt County, and that we were in the jungles of Mexico discussing Fieri? The topic was the small world phenomenon of his presence on BR, and the fact that he hails from Humboldt and is seen around town there frequently.
Reading further, I saw that the faux pas in question was my failure to write about Fieri’s Lake Effect visit that aired on the Food Network in my absence! Not only is this spot (embedded below) a great shot in the arm for Lake Effect Diner – Go, Tucker and Erin! – but our own Chao Li and her boyfriend Keith are two of the featured diners who were there when Fieri’s crew was shooting. Chao wrote about it for BR, and that’s her commenting on the blueberry pancakes and bacon.
Tucker Curtain (below) certainly wows Fieri with his outrageous attention to food preparation; can you hear him salivating? If this short video doesn’t boost tourism in Buffalo, I’ll be surprised. I just wish there was a way to track it.
You’ve got to love Fieri, and you have to be so proud of the Tuckers for maintaining so many outstanding eateries here in Buffalo (Lake Effect, The Steer and Dug’s Dive). Talk about doing it right! I wouldn’t have missed this for the world.
