This
holiday season, you can choose cards and gifts with a Buffalo twist–and support
cancer research at Roswell Park Cancer Institute at the same time.
For
two decades, The Paint Box Project has provided a source of support and
creative expression to kids and their families at Roswell Park who are dealing
with cancer. The program uses the healing power of art to help today’s young
cancer patients, and raises support for research and patient care programs that
will make a difference for patients in the future.
The
Paint Box Project’s 20th anniversary collection features the most
beloved cards and gifts from throughout the program’s history.
One
of these classics, “City Buffalo” (pictured) is back in this
year’s collection as a customizable holiday card. City Buffalo was created by Ashley,
the sister of cancer survivor Kristen, and originally debuted in the collection
in 2002.
“In
the years when Ashley should have been a carefree teenager, she was always
worried about her sister. I think Paint Box was an outlet for her,” said
the girls’ mom, Judene. “Ashley was always a good artist, and this gave
her some control in her life while we dealt with Kristen’s illness.”
Ashley’s
design is also found on the “All Buffalo” tin, a great gift for any
chocolate lover, featuring Western New York-themed treats from Buffalo’s own
Choco-Logo.
