Francesca’s On Seneca Officially Opens

Thanks to $70,000 in Buffalo Economic Renaissance (BERC) and $7,025 in CARE assistance for façade upgrades, Francesca’s Italian restaurant has officially opened at 2022 Seneca Street.

“Along the way they dealt with a lot of frustration,” Mayor Brown said of the Marchione family, “and they’ve done a tremendous job on their establishment.”  The project took a total of 2 1/2 years to complete, with Marchione doing most of the complete inside/outside renovation by himself.

A very excited Assemblyman Mark Schroeder praised the Marchione’s for their courage.  “They took a chance on Seneca street, which had 54 vacant buildings.  Now it has a new Tops Markets, Tim Horton’s, People Incorporated office, and next Monday WNY Americorps will make an announcement.”

“The theme is ‘shop in your own neighborhood,'” he added.  Owner Steve Marchione’s parents once operated a restaurant, Marchione’s Family Restaurant, on the same site from 1988 to 2000.

The Mayor also discussed the city-funded improvements to the Seneca business district in South Buffalo, which includes $1.3 million for infrastructure improvements, new street lights, road repaving, landscaping, and sidewalks.

Francesca’s will specialize in “creative Italian” cuisine.  Call for more information: 381.8600
