Art For Heart Auction

Student and adult artists from all over Western New York have contributed artwork, judges have chosen the best pieces for the auction block, caterers are preparing to serve hundreds of people, and all that’s left is for you to attend this Saturday’s Art For Heart Auction at the Karpeles Manuscript Museum.  Ticket prices have been slashed from $45 to $15, so even if you can’t afford to purchase some art, attend the event, help the community, and enjoy the work.

It’s the third year for the auction, and as in previous years, it is held in conjunction with Music is Art and the Healthy Community Alliance to benefit the HEART program.

Each year, student artists from all over Western New York produce works with their choice of medium, whether it’s paint and canvas, sculpture, photography, etc., and submit it with the chance of being bid on at auction.  This is the first year that officials opened the auction to adult artists.  Even local artists Simon Griffis and Tom Wolf have contributed pieces to the event.

This year, auction officials had their hands full as 100 artists contributed 120 pieces for auction.  Nine of those pieces have been selected for live auction, and the rest can be purchased through silent auction.  Most pieces start around $35 and go up from there.

The auction will also feature food provided by Chef’s, and wine provided by Cavalier Wines and Spirits.  If you purchase a piece of art, take it to Elmwood Framing and Interiors, where they’ll give 20% of the framing price back to Art for Heart.
