Fall officially began on Tuesday at 5:18 PM EDT! That means that this weekend is your first fall weekend of 2009, and there are plenty of fun things to do!
Thursday, September 24
–Talking Leaves on Main Street will host Mary Malloy, author of the historical nautical novel The Wandering Heart, the first in a trilogy. 7 PM. Talking Leaves will provide copies for signing.
–Mode Restaurant hosts their weekly Comedy. Showcase featuring the best in stand-up comics from Buffalo. $5. Hosted by me (Dan Fisher). 9 PM.
Friday, September 25
–Buffalo Academy of Visual and Performing Arts will showcase spoken-word poetry, dance, paintings, video, and more at Buffalo ReUse’s community gardens. 6 PM – 8 PM.
–Relevant Worship will play the Town Ballroom while taping their first DVD. Stephen Kulu will also perform. All ages. 7 PM.
Saturday, September 26
–Oktoberfest at the Central Terminal is set to run from 6 PM – 11 PM. Come celebrate the beautiful Autumn season with beer provided by Spaten and Flying Bison, food by Ulrich’s Tavern, with music by The Frankfurters! Tickets are $10 and include one beer, but entry is free for attendees in costume.
–Las Vegas comes to the Broadway Market 11 AM – 4 PM. Steve Balisteri will perform the music of Frank Sinatra, enter to win a trip to Las Vegas, and enter to win the best Elvis impersonator contest.
Sunday, September 27
–Antero Winds, the award winning woodwind quintet, will be performing at Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center. Stay and meet the musicians after the performance. 3 PM. $15 admission, $10 for students and Hallwalls members.
