About ten years ago, I took Jim Lorentz’s hockey camp at the North Buffalo ice rink on Tacoma. Even at that time I remember thinking, “This place is in need of a few repairs,” as the locker room lights flickered on and off. Those repairs are on the way, even if they’re a little late, announced Senator Antoine Thompson’s office.
The state will be sending $200,000 for repairs to the rink. Funds are to be allocated as follows:
-$40,000 for safety glass and a new railing for visitor viewing areas
-$10,000 for energy efficient locker room heaters
-$50,000 for energy efficient chillers and electrical upgrades,
-$25,000 for repainting of surfaces
-$20,000 for a new zamboni door and electrical safety devices
-$55,000 for electrical lighting, air quality, equipment efficiency, and heat recovery system for ice surface up-keep.
