On Thursday, August 20th, the Wind Action Group will host an important meeting at 5:30PM at the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, located at 712 Main Street in Buffalo. The meeting will include discussions of several key issues, including the future of the organization.
The Wind Action Group works to educate local residents on issues related to wind power in WNY, allowing them to form educated opinions on this renewable power source and to voice their concerns. The group also investigates issues related to wind power and advocates for its development. It was originally formed by Buffalo’s Green Gold Development Corporation from recommendations found in Wind Energy Initiatives for Greater Buffalo.
At the meeting, the group will discuss its plans for the Elmwood Festival of the Arts, which takes place August 29th and 30th. Volunteers are needed for this event, so come ready to sign up and help!
The meeting will also provide participants with an update on the NYPA Offshore Wind Proposal and will discuss the future of the group in regards to its legal structure. With the Community Foundation for a Greater Buffalo‘s recent establishment of an Energy Task Group, which deals with many of the same issues as WAG, talk will also center on whether or not to fold the WAG into this larger effort. WAG leaders will entertain comments or concerns on the matter at the August meeting.
