Do you really know where your food comes from?
If you’re
curious about where your fresh fruits and veggies come from before lining the
supermarket shelves, come see a screening of the groundbreaking documentary, Food
Inc. at the Dipson Market
Arcade Theatre Downtown (639 Main Street), on Tuesday, August 18th.
to inform guests of the effects of corporate agriculture on our lives, our food
and economy, Buffalo First! is proud to sponsor a one-night showing of Food
Inc. in conjunction
with Dipson Market Arcade, Merge, Betty’s, MAP and Talking Leaves… Books. On Tuesday,
August 18th, meet with local, independent business owners and individuals part
of “The Local Herd” for a monthly mixer at 5:30 PM followed by a
showing of the film at 7 PM.
Food Inc. exposes the hidden truth behind
our nation’s corporate-controlled food industry, which threatens consumer
health, small farmers and the environment. If you aren’t quite sure where
your food comes from, Food Inc. explains it all from genetic engineering to factory
farming to how to find organic, local foods in your community (even if you live
in WNY where fresh food cannot be grown year round). Also, the film features
food investigative experts such as Eric Schlosser, author of Fast Food
Nation, and
Michael Pollan, author of The Omnivore’s Dilemma and several books.
Enjoy free
healthy snacks and locally-grown foods served courtesy of local restaurants and
urban farms.
Food Inc. will change the way you see (and buy)
food. Please, come support local businesses, farmers and Buffalo First!
Tickets are
$6 or four for $20. To purchase tickets, please visit Brown Paper Tickets or the Buffalo First! Web site.
