Have some fun by the water at Canal Connections!, featuring free, family-friendly entertainment on the Erie Canal Central Wharf.
On Friday, August 21st, Theatre Alliance of Buffalo, in conjunction with the Erie Canal Harbor Corporation and Buffalo Place, Inc., is proud to present this live, outdoor “variety show” from 5 PM until 9 PM.
The event will showcase the talents of Theatre Alliance of Buffalo members and community friends. Canal Connections! will be hosted by radio personality and local celebrity, Loraine O’Donnell from WECK 1230 am, “Good Morning Buffalo.”
Main Stage schedule will feature:
5:00 PM: Emcee, Loraine O’Donnell
5:10 – 5:30 PM: Dance and movement performance by Moving Miracles
6:00 – 6:25 PM: MusicalFare Theatre will present Louis Colaiacovo, Paschal Frisina III and Michele Marie Roberts, singing some of the best musical theatre songs ever written, with Jason Bravo on piano.
6:30 – 6:45 PM: A choreographed fight scene from the production I HATE HAMLET by Kaleidoscope Theatre Productions.
6:50 – 7 PM: O’Connell and Company Productions will present a musical number from 4 Guys Named Jose and Una Muier Named Maria, featuring Victoria Perez.
7:05 – 7:25 PM: Actor Harold Luther White will give a one-man performance, “Dugs Dive,” about the life and times of William “Dug” Douglas who operated one of the most infamous saloons in the Canal District in the 19th century.
7:30 – 7:45 PM: Irish Classical Theatre will present a musical number from their 2009-2010 season opener and award winning play, “Blood Brothers.”
7:50 – 8:45 PM: Friends of Harmony, an award-winning, all-male a cappella chorus, will engage the audience with a combination of patriotic music, show tunes and popular favorites for all ages in a beautiful four-part harmony.
2009-2010 Theatre Season information tents will be hosted by TAB, Playhouse of American Classics, Theatre of Youth, Irish Classical Theatre Company, Road Less Traveled Productions, Kaleidoscope Theatre Productions, and Curtain Up! 2009.
Canal Connections! will also feature free drawings for theatre tickets, WECK 1230 give-a-ways and more.
