Can you believe July is already over? Good thing there’s still
one month left of summer! Check out these upcoming events.
The Buffalo
Infringement Festival ’09 continues, showcasing art of all kinds. The
11-day festival has featured a wide range of creative entertainment, featuring
everything from theatre to visual arts (even puppets!). Buffalo Infringement
Festival ends this Sunday, August 2nd, so check the Web site for a complete listing of shows.
On Saturday, August 1st:
–Buy some fresh, locally-grown produce at the Elmwood-Bidwell
Farmers’ Market (at Bidwell Parkway at Elmwood Avenue) from 8 AM until 1 PM.
Bring the kids for play time at the Rose Garden Early Childhood Center (Waldorf
School) tent, and enjoy live music by violinist David Adamczyk. Also, stop by
the Growing Green Works tent with their “Amazing Chili Starter” and
“Super Duper Salsa.”
–Attend the 5th annual “Black Rock &
Riverside Tour of Gardens,” a self-guided tour, featuring over 80 gardens.
This free event begins at 10 AM. An evening tour of 40 well-lit gardens,
“The Starry Night Garden Tour,” will take place from 8 PM until 10

–Check out exciting works of art at the “Media Art Center
with Potter-Belmar Labs,” by collaborating artists Leslie Raymond and
Jason Jay Stevens, at Squeaky Wheel (712 Main Street) at 8 PM. The pair is
known for their internationally exhibited, award-winning multimedia
installation art.
–See the exhibit “Found Surfaces” by Jason D’Aquino,
miniaturist artist and co-owner of Leviantan Tatoo, at Karpeles Manuscript
Library Museum (220 North Street) at 7 PM. D’Aquino’s work will be on display
until Wednesday, September 30th.
–Get some useful information at “Operation: Protect Your
Home” at Bennett High School (2885 Main Street) from 10 AM until 2 PM. The
seminar will provide residents with an educational opportunity to learn about
home foreclosure prevention through education seminars and independent
consultations with mortgage counselors.
–Enjoy performances at the “Buffalo Dance Festival” at
the University at Buffalo Center for the Arts at 8 PM. Dancers from Lehrer
Dance and Configuration Dance Theatre will perform new, collaborative work. For

Stop by and get your fresh fruits and vegetables. The market is located
on Hotaling Drive in Riverside Park, with hours from 9AM until 1PM. The
market will run on Saturdays through October 31.
–All Saints Church in Riverside will be conducting their annual
Parish Festival. Stop by for food, drink, games and music. Also be
sure to enter their Grand Prize Drawing to win $2,222.00. The festival
runs from 1 pm until 11PM. All Saints Church is located at 127 Chadduck
Avenue.
On Sunday, August 2nd:
Attend the opening of “Together,” an exhibit featuring
watercolors by Caroline Hailand and photographs by her son, Tim Hailand, at the
C.G. Jung Center from 2 PM until 4 PM. For more information, please visit Tim Hailand’s Web site.
