Margaret Cho will be making a stop in Buffalo during her fall comedy tour. On Monday, September 28th, Margaret Cho will be performing at Town Ballroom which will feature a mix of stand-up comedy and live music Cho will be showcasing songs from her forthcoming album, titled Guitarded. Tickets go on sale today at noon.
Cho has been known for her stand-up routines which are often explicit.
In her routines, Cho has been known cover social and political issues,
especially those which deal with racial stereotypes and sexuality.
Cho started performing stand-up when she was just sixteen years old in a comedy club called The Rose & Thistle that was located above a bookstore her parents ran. Shortly after, Cho won first prize in a contest which secured her an opening spot for Jerry Seinfeld.
After Arsenio Hall introduced Cho to late night audiences and Bob Hope put her on a prime time special, Cho seemed to become an overnight celebrity.
Since then, Cho has starred in an ABC sitcom, All-American Girl, the Vh1 series, The Cho Show, and released several comedic shows on CD and DVD. The Notorious C.H.O. feature film was hailed “Brilliant!” by the New York Times and Cho’s Revolution CD was nominated for a Grammy for the best comedic album of the year in 2003.
In recent news, Cho is a star in a new comedic drama series, Drop Dead Diva, which debuted on Lifetime, Sunday, July 12th. The show is about a shallow model-in-training who dies suddenly only to find her soul resurfacing in a body of a brilliant, plus-sized recently deceased attorney. Stage actress Brooke Elliot (Wicked, Taboo) stars as lawyer Jane Bingum and Cho plays her friend, Teri Lee. The show airs on Sundays at 9PM.
For her fall tour, Cho will return to her roots with her trademark raunchy and politically motivated comedy. Tickets are on sale this Saturday at noon, for $24 advance and are available at tickets.com locations at Tops Markets and the Town Ballroom box office.
