Just Buffalo Literary Center has announced its July events. Here’s a look at what’s happening in the upcoming month.
On Wednesday, July 1st, the JBLC and The Center for Inquiry Literary Cafe will present “Open Reading: Hot Summer Nights” at 7:30 PM at the Center for Inquiry, located at 1310 Sweet Home Road in Amherst, to celebrate summer. Guests are welcome to read two or three pages of writing during the 15 open slots for approximately five minutes with time for socializing afterwards. As an added attraction, readers will be able to display and sell books, chapbooks and CDs of their original works in support of our literary community.
On Thursday, July 23rd, the JBLC in conjunction with Talking Leaves…Books and Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center will present a “Poetry Reading and Book Signing” with Buffalo-born poet Mark Nowak at 7 PM at Talking Leaves…Books, located at 3158 Main Street. Nowak will read from, discuss and sign copies of his latest book, Coal Mountain Elementary.
On Thursday, July 31st, another event with Talking Leaves…Books and Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center will take place, featuring a “Reading and Book Signing with Naseem Rakha” at 7 PM at Talking Leaves…Books on Main Street. Rakka is a novelist and award-winning journalist. She will read from and sign copies of her first novel, The Crying Tree.
