CURTAIN UP! 2009

Mark your calendars!  The
28th Annual CURTAIN UP!
, the unveiling of Buffalo’s live theater season, will
be presented by the Theatre District Association of Western New York and
M&T Bank on Friday, September 11th. 
There is always something to offer among the 13 participating theaters,
associated events, a theatrical a Creative Black-Tie Gala Dinner on stage at
Shea’s Performing Arts Center and a free community post party featuring live
entertainment on Main Street in Buffalo’s Theater District.

The
numerous options present something for everyone and makes the theater district
and CURTAIN UP! an integral event throughout the community.  “Thousands of people will gather to
celebrate the vitality and diversity of theatre in our community,” said Brian
Dusenberry, president of the Theatre District Association.

Robert
Brunschmid, Curtain Up! 2009 event chairman said it is more than just an event
but enrichment to the city and Western New York.

“Not
only does the annual Curtain Up! Event kick-off a new season of outstanding
Buffalo theatre, it also continues to advance the Buffalo/Niagara Region as a
destination for arts and cultural experiences,” said Brunschmid.  “Western New York is rich with live
theatre.  The theatre community is
proud to shine a well-deserved spotlight on Buffalo and draw visitors to this
unique downtown celebration.”

The
schedule for the event includes dinner and cocktails along with entertainment
starting at 5PM in Shea’s Grand Lobby, which is open to the
public.  It continues as the
curtain rises for theatrical performances at 8PM.  The third act of the event runs from 10PM to
approximately 1AM on Main Street in Downtown Buffalo’s Theatre District and
includes a variety of unique performances and post parties.
