It’s good to see Buffalo helping Buffalo, which is why I’m glad Abbey-Mecca and Canisius College partnered up to create some award winning ads for Canisius’ athletic department as recognized in the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA).
Abbey-Mecca’s series of 30-second TV spots were submitted to the medium-sized school grouping category, were titled “Are you ready?” and featured “Petey the Griffin,” Canisius’ mascot. The ads premiered during the third and fourth quarters of 2008 and first quarter of 2009, and garnered a gold medal. They’re pretty funny; I think you’ll enjoy them.
The NACMA Awards honor outstanding achievement in marketing and promotions in 13 categories and divided into groups according to institution size and conference affiliation. NACMA received over 700 entries this year, and this is the first time Canisius has received a NACMA award.
In the past year, Abbey-Mecca has received nine awards for creativity in marketing and branding.
