Throughout it’s 21-year history, the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership (CEL) Core program at the University at Buffalo School of Management has never seen as large a graduating class as this year. Forty-six Western New York business owners, operators, and high-level managers graduated on June 3rd and will soon be implementing CEL training in their respective business corporations.
Started in 1987, the CEL program promotes economic and business growth in Western New York by developing individual business leaders’ expertise and experience. The program’s impact is apparent too – nearly 700 CEL alumni employ more than 22,000 Western New Yorkers, and their businesses are worth more than $2 billion to our local economy.
Nationally recognized, the UB School of Management offers many business programs as part of the larger University at Buffalo. The Wall Street Journal publicly ranked the School of Management as 9th in the nation among schools with strong regional recruiting bases. BusinessWeek has ranked the school in the country’s top 5 business schools for fastest return on MBA investment. Forbes too, cited it as one of the best business schools for return on investment it provides MBA graduates.
Within the School of Management, the CEL program is a ten-month course designed for experienced entrepreneurs and business leaders who wish to develop and improve their businesses. Each graduate expanded skills in employee relations, strategic planning, capital acquisition, and marketing while conducting an in-depth analysis of his/her business.
This year’s graduates will be bringing their newly-acquired skills to businesses all across Western New York and in various fields. Graduating are leaders from architectural and construction firms, medical practices, marketing companies, and economic advising groups. Even more diverse businesses in sign-making, landscape lighting, health and fitness, charter schools, and metal fabricating will grow and expand from individual participation in the CEL program.
