Town Hall: Radio’s Ed Schultz @ Canisius College

Talk
show host Ed Schultz is coming to Buffalo on Saturday, June 13.  He’s been promoting the town hall style
meeting on his radio show (which airs on WWKB-1520 AM from 12-3 weekdays).  Shultz, who characterizes himself as a
progressive talker, will be at the Montante Cultural Center at Canisius College
June 13 from 6:00-8:00 pm.  General
admission tickets are $20 and VIP tickets are $100.  According to his website, VIP ticket holders will have a
meet and greet with Schultz prior to the event.

I
haven’t listened to Ed’s show much since he went to the dark side (cable news)
but I generally find his radio show to be interesting and informative.  He talks a lot about the automotive
industry, the environment, and health care–obviously major issues of
interest.  His show is carried on
local affiliates throughout the country and he also has a presence on satellite
radio.  Given his national
audience, it’s interesting that he’s chosen Buffalo as a site for a town hall
meeting.

Though he’s
previously hosted town hall events in Portland and Madison, Buffalo is currently
the only city where such an event is scheduled.  On air he’s been saying that the Buffalo event will be broadcast
nationally.  Although I haven’t
heard him specify if it will be broadcast on radio or television, I’m guessing
it will be on television because his show on MSNBC begins at 6PM weeknights.
