Squeaky Wheel will be holding its bi-annual Bowl-O-Rama fundraiser on Sunday June 14th from 6-9PM. This event will take place at Voelker’s Bowling Center, at 686 Amherst St. by Elmwood Ave. Everyone who is interested in participating pledges an amount of money for each pin that their bowler knocks down. Of course, if you feel like taking the lanes by storm you can be your own bowler, and get others to pledge for you.
If, however, you’re not the most talented bowler out there, you can have someone else bowl for you. People can pledge a flat fee, or however much they wish for each point they, or their bowler, scores. Dorothea Braemer from Squeaky Wheel has a list of suggested per point pledges on the fundraiser’s facebook page, which is based on three games of bowling, and goes as follows (assuming your bowler scores 100 points per game):
1cent = $3.00
2 cents = $6.00
3 cents = $9.00
5 cents = $15.00
10 cents = $30.00
25 cents = $75.00
50 cents = $150.00
$1.00 = $300.00
This pledge drive is now in its fifth year, and the benefits will be going towards Squeaky Wheel’s Buffalo Youth Media Institute next year. The Institute is a 10-month youth media and community history initiative. There is also going to be a screening for the Institute coming up on Sunday, June 21st, at 3PM at the Market Arcade Film and Arts Center.
