Rob Ray To Be Roasted By Comedians

What do you think of when you picture Rob Ray?  He’s probably grappling with another giant man, he’s lost his sweater, he’s throwing haymakers, and he’s quite possibly smiling for the entire duration of the bout.  That’s Rob Ray.  The same Rob Ray notorious for pummeling other large, well-trained professional athletes.  Putting all fears aside, some of the areas best comedians (most of whom have the physical stature of jockeys) have promised to deliver a multitude of blows to Ray’s ego.  From the Rob Ray Rule to that horribly misguided Nordiques fan who didn’t know when to quit, no subject is sacred.

On Tuesday June 23, 8 PM, at the beautiful Asbury Hall at Babeville, Buffalo comedians Matt Bergman, Matt Wayne, Jeff Kooze, Shaun Murphy, Mark Walton, Kevin Carlin, Shanin Allen, myself (Dan Fisher) and others will be on the dais to make fun of someone who can still hurt them at 40 years of age.  Music will be performed live by Buffalo’s own original musicians The Manipulators and Tina Crapsi.  Kristen Becker, a 2009 Artvoice nominee for funniest comedian and founder of the Doin’ Time Comedy Showcase at Nietzsche’s will be your Roastmaster.

The show will also feature guest appearances from Sabres Andrew Peters, Matthew Barnaby, and many more.

The event is $25, and all proceeds go to the Sabres Alumni Scholarship Fund which is awarded to chosen high school seniors in Western New York and Southern Ontario who meet academic qualifications and plan on attending university full-time.  It also marks the 3rd anniversary of the Doin’ Time Comedy Showcase and will signify the jumping off of BuffaloComedy.com, Buffalo’s new comprehensive guide to live comedy in our city.

Asbury Hall is located at 341 Delaware Avenue.  Tickets can be purchased through Tickets.com and at Tops Friendly Markets.

After part to be held at Nietzsche’s, 241 Allen St.  Come get drunk laugh with us!
