This Saturday, Buffalo First is featuring two events, back to back. The first is a lecture by author David Hess at Hallwalls at 2PM, followed by Buffalo First’s premier networking
event for local and independent businesses this Saturday at 4PM.

Hess
will speak about his new book on local economies here in Buffalo, and Buffalo
First, the regional advocate for a local, green and fair economy, is teaming up
with Talking Leaves…Books, Buffalo’s oldest independent bookstore, along with Hallwalls
Contemporary Art Center. Scholar and university professor Hess
will discuss Localist Movements in a Global Economy:
Sustainability, Justice and Urban Development in the United States (MIT Press).
Following Hess, the
Local Herd will move to Merge at 4PM in order to bring together local independent businesses to
learn from one another and socialize in a casual, fun atmosphere. The group is
designed to strengthen local independent business relationships, and to help
build a local, green and fair economy in the Buffalo-Niagara region.
Buffalo First members and non-members are welcome to attend both events.
