If you don’t think that preservation will be one of Buffalo’s saving graces, then you should check out yet another article doting our recent efforts to ensure our future by securing our past. Cleveland.com has just documented a breathtaking look at our recent preservation efforts. Sometimes we don’t give ourselves enough credit for our success while we dwell on our past mistakes. From the article:
“It took only a handful of visionary artists, collectors and patrons
to leave this city with a remarkable cultural legacy in the first half
of the 20th century. Today, it seems as if it’s taking the entire urban region to care for the inheritance they left behind. Buffalo is rising to the occasion, big time.”
The article touts our modernist legacy. It shines a light on patrons, architects and many of their visions that remain with us today. Read all about it… and remember:
“If Buffalo can rise again, it may owe its recovery to the riches left
behind at the dawn of the modern age. Today, it’s a terrific place to
ponder the role played by culture in the destiny of cities. That’s a
story made all the more inspiring by the current efforts to preserve
the best of the recent past.”
