Among the
beautiful boutiques, coffee shops and more that line the street of Elmwood, the
ZGM Gallery will soon accompany. Photographers Don Zinteck and Wayne Geist, along with Michael Morin, who specializes in paintings and prints, are opening the
gallery. The last names of the
three men are how the upcoming gallery acquired its acronym.
The second
floor gallery will be holding its Inaugural Exhibit on Friday, June 19th, from 6
to 8PM and is located on 1045 Elmwood Avenue. The opening night will feature great refreshments from
Chateau Buffalo, as well as treats from local Elmwood bakeries.
The space is
in the process of being refurbished; it was an Orthodox Synagogue in the
1920s and a spiritual church in the 1950s, and still has some of the original
architecture that adds positively to the artistic environment. The soon-to-be gallery houses historic
features such as a brilliant chandelier from the 20s as part of the atrium of
the synagogue and a beautiful cut glass window.
As owners and
occupants of the space, the three men will be exhibiting their own work on opening night, which promises to be a great evening. The owners are expecting that the gallery will eventually feature an array of other local artists as part of their
exhibits, which will be free and open to the public. Their website, www.zgmfinearts.com, is also expected to be
up and running by the opening on the 19th. Call 716.510.0251 for more information about featuring work in the gallery.
