In a speech he gave about a plan to spark the American economy, President Obama used Buffalo as an example. “It’s a tax code that says you should pay lower taxes if you create jobs in Bangalore, India, than if you create one in Buffalo, New York.” The name-drop came in a speech about Obama’s plan to stimulate the US job market by making it less enticing for American companies to outsource jobs overseas.
(Sorry, the only video I could find was from Indian TV.)
I understand that Obama may have used Buffalo in regards to alliteration and that in this example Buffalo is a metaphor for the rest of the American economy, but it’s still cool to get a mention in a speech about a plan that could have a major economic impact both at home and abroad. Some pundits are unofficially calling it the “Say no to Bangalore, Yes to Buffalo plan,” which is also cool.
Hey, he could have said “Boston.”
