Attention
all wine-lovers: Here’s the perfect opportunity for a late summer family weekend
away from it all, complete with loads of delicious, world-class wine, and
activities to keep the kids occupied.
The
Finger Lakes Riesling Festival will be held August 15th and 16th
along
by three entrepreneurs local to the
provides a chance for area wineries, restaurants, artists, musicians, and
farmers to show off their goods and celebrate the bounty the region possesses.
“Our
region is making a name for itself with its world-class Rieslings,” said
Festival organizer, Howie Jacobson, Managing Partner at Dixon Schwabl. “This
event will remind our community and excite our visitors of all the
viniculture, horticulture and artistry.”
More
than 10,000 visitors are expected to visit the inaugural year of the festival,
which operates under the tagline “A Mile of Family Fun,” indicating that not
only are good times to be had for the adults, but also for the kids.
Expending
energy in the bounce house is easy for young kids, and there’s even a teen tent
where the older ones can hang out with friends while they play video and music
games on a large-screen TV. Of course, for the adults there is wine tasting
from the
farmers market will also be selling homegrown goods, and local
restaurants and vendors will be there providing lunch and dinner options for
all.
Festival
admission is completely free, and part of the proceeds driven by vendors will be donated to a
local non-profit organization.
