A
call to all those on the fringe of Buffalo’s art scene: applications are now
being accepted for the 2009 Buffalo Infringement Festival in Allentown.
The
festival, set to take place July 23rd through August 2nd, showcases arts of all
types from the traditional theater, dance and music to puppet shows, cabaret
and stand-up comics: the definition of art is as free as the application fee.
The
festival is built on a non-profit-driven mantra, so artists don’t pay for a
slot in the fair, and audiences enjoy the scene for next to nothing. The point
is to bring together the melting pot of Buffalo’s talent in an uncensored,
anything-can-happen street fair. All artists are welcome to apply, while the freaky
and outlandish are encouraged.
“It’s
the stone soup of festivals, with bizarre ingredients indeed,” claims
BIF Music Coordinator Curt Rotterdam.
