Be a friend to the Japanese Garden

I know a lot of people have been out cleaning up the city’s shores and the streets over the last few days, and that is admirable. But there is still work to be done. There are so many organizations that still need you help. They are not asking for money, or a ton of your time. One such organization is getting together tomorrow from 10am to 12pm to spruce up our beloved Japanese Garden. I was lucky enough to look through a scrapbook the other day, and in it were photos of the garden – before, during and after completion. We are so lucky to have this garden in our midst. We shouldn’t take this incredible gift for granted.

Each year the Friends of the Japanese Garden rely on the community to come out and lend a hand. It’s a great way to learn about the history of the garden – did you know that the garden was a gift from our Sister City in Japan? Kanazawa! If you have some gardening tools to bring along, please do so. There will be people on hand to guide you along the path to becoming an enlightened green thumb. That means that no experience is necessary, though gardening prowess is always welcome.
