A Different Kind of Love Story: Zombie Loves Vampire Screening

Buffalo State theater student Jason Lee
Klinger zeroed in on the idea of a vampire love saga long before the relatively
recent Twilight phenomena began, but
his version is just a bit different. His story chronicles a zombie going after a
vampire in “Zombie Loves Vampire”.

Klinger’s
digital HD-short, a romantic comedy of sorts, is set in the streets of
Buffalo. Receiving permission
for filming at certain areas of the city proved difficult for the film maker,
but others weren’t quite as difficult, Klinger says, like “the exterior of the
Unitarian Church at Elmwood and West, an undisclosed cemetery exterior, the
interior of Avenue Pizza on Elmwood, the exterior of Firebrand Shoe store, the
exterior of my apartment on Bryant, Video Liquidators on Elmwood near Hertel, and
the interior of an art gallery at Buffalo State College, and the film closes
with a sunset at various locations along Buffalo’s beautiful waterfront.”

Shot
in the last few weeks of February, most of the film’s cast hated their director
by the end, but regardless, they’ll all be present for the free preview
screening of the short at
8PM on Friday, May 1st
at the Rockwell Performing Arts Center on the
Buffalo State campus.

Following
the screening, Klinger has decided to open up his work to a focus group whose
input will help determine the final cut of the film.

“The
reason for the focus group is to have fresh eyes and ears, and different
opinions of what worked and what didn’t,” Klinger said. “‘Zombie Loves Vampire’
is very much a B, scratch that, C-movie, so most the flubs in the film are
going to be intentional…or at least the best I could get. There is no money
for a re-shoot so I’m hoping to hear critiques and comments in regards to stuff
I can change in the sound mix or the editing.”

Again,
the screening is free and open to the public, at
8PM on Friday, May 1st
at Rockwell Performing Arts Center on
Buffalo State‘s campus (map).
