Construction Watch: Genesee Gateway

Work continues on CityView Properties‘ Genesee Gateway project located at the prominent corner of Genesee and Oak streets.  The $12 million effort is redeveloping the Genesee Block into a mix of 60,000 sq.ft. of retail and office space.  CityView is teaming with the Wendt Foundation to revitalize the properties.

Ongoing work is not readily visible from the street.  Crews have been shoring up the buildings, preparing the basement for the elevator installation, and building the foundation for a new four-story mid-block structure to be built next to the ornate Werner Building.

Portions of the project are expected to be ready for tenant build-out and occupancy by the end of the year.  All work should be done in the first quarter of 2010.  Flynn Battaglia Architects designed the redevelopment plan.

CityView also purchased the properties between Eddie Brady’s and Ellicott Street.  The developer has not announced details for that end of the block calling it “Phase II” for now.
