If you were out and about today, you may have bumped into Rene Russo or Alec Baldwin. Or both.
Rene Russo was in town to help promote White Cow Dairy, a mainstay of the Elmwood-Bidwell Farmer’s Market. According to Buffalo Locavore, Russo is good friends with the owner of White Cow Dairy. After helping push yogurt at Wegman’s, Russo headed to Allentown where she was spotted enjoying the fine food at Sample.
Alec Baldwin was in Buffalo to read an excerpt of Speed the Plow by David Mamet at Buffalo State College’s Rockwell Hall as a fundraiser for Road Less Traveled productions. After his reading, Baldwin headed to Oliver’s to take in dinner at one of Buffalo’s finest restaurants.
Baldwin’s second performance for RLTP comes from a friendship he made with the theater company’s Artistic/Executive Producer, Scott Behrend. Baldwin was joined in his reading by actors Brian Mysliwy and Kelly Jakiel. WBFO’s Bert Gambini served as narrator. For Baldwin fans, the reading was a peak performance that typified his abilities as a darkly comic performer of Mamet’s rich satire. (Kudos to Mysliwy for bringing his energetic mixture of Lou Costello and Jack Lemon to this role.)
A couple celebrities at a couple of the better restaurants in Buffalo – just another Saturday night in February.
