The
partnership between the University at Buffalo and Buffalo Public Schools will take the
spotlight at a presentation in the Ask the Experts series when they present, “Tapping
the Potential of Higher Education Partnerships: A Strategic Approach to Collaboration.”
The
conference will be held and presentation given at the National School Boards
Association Annual Conference from
will be given by Mara B. Huber, special assistant to the President for
Educational Initiatives at UB, and Buffalo Public Schools Superintendent James
A. Williams.
The
presentation by Huber and Williams is the first step in showing off the
UB-Buffalo Public Schools Partnership Model to a national audience. The
partnership was established in December of 2006. The goal was to pull from
expertise at the university with the hopes of improving the outcomes for all
students in the schools by increasing the number of high school graduates, as
well as the number of those graduates who are interested and ready to study at
the collegiate level.
2008, the partnership chose three
receive a four-year tuition scholarship at UB, and will select two more for
2009.
