Sample Restaurant
on Allen Street is bringing science and thought to a special Valentine’s Day
menu this year that will arouse all the right chemicals in your body. Chef Adam
Goetz has once again created a menu based on the chemistry of aphrodisiacs. “I
strive to approach every event at Sample as a new way to get
creative, challenge myself and innovate.” Goetz explains.
Do something different this year. Don’t eat yourself into a ‘food
coma.’ Instead, eat and build chemistry at the same time!
“What will I
do to test my inventiveness and inspire my customers? The aphrodisiac menu
does both. I have to do my research, determine my ingredients and resources
and compose the menu. I have to have fun doing this, because if I have
fun creating it, my customers will have fun enjoying it.”
Start with a
Cayenne and Passionfruit Margarita and an hors d’oeuvres trio of carrot ginger
soup with basil foam, Arugala Salad with roasted pistachios and raspberry
vinaigrette, and savory caramelized onion and leek custard. This trio is
then followed by an entree of seared petit filet mignon with parisian potatos,
ennel marmalade, almond tempura fried asparagus and red wine jus. Finish off
this wonderful evening with a rose and strawberry pavlova for dessert.
The cost for the
whole menu is $45 per couple. This, of course, comes with the modern and
romantic decor of Sample Restaurant. This Valentine’s Day menu will run from
2/12 to 2/14, as well as the regular Sample menu. Call for a reservation
