Buffalo Photography Studio Wins Bride’s Choice Award

Parrish, photographer and owner of Lovely Day Photo in Buffalo, was a recent
winner of the 2009 Bride’s Choice Awards.
The award was given from WeddingWire, the nation’s leading wedding
technology company.  Unlike other
awards in which winners are selected by the company, the Bride’s Choice Awards
are determined exclusively by recent newlyweds through surveys and reviews.

your most important moments is an art form to me,” said Parrish.  “I’m not just taking pictures: I’m
freezing a moment in time, in just a particular way, so that in 30 years you
can look at that portrait and feel all the same emotions as you did the day it
was taken.”

in 2008, Melissa started Lovely Day Photo in order to give her clients the
personal attention often lacking in larger photography studios.

love getting to know my clients,” said Parrish.  “I’m not just
photographing two people on their wedding day–I’m photographing a happy couple
who I’ve taken a lot of time to get to know.  I want to make sure that on
their wedding day, I’m not only capturing their event, but capturing their
personalities and the love that they have for each other.”

has been a lifelong passion of Melissa’s.
From early on, she took hundreds of rolls of film before ever taking a
photo class. Once in high school, Melissa interned in portrait studios,
assisted wedding photographers, and worked in boutique studios before attending
the Art Institute of Pittsburgh on a Portfolio Scholarship.  Three days before her college
graduation, she accepted a position in Buffalo, managing her first portrait
studio, before taking over four studio locations that same year.

was three and a half years of working in the studios before I realized that to
achieve my dream, I’d have to get out of the business to get back in,” she
said.  “So I quit my job, took a 9
to 5er, started buying my equipment, shooting weddings on the side, and also
photographing for other photographers again.”

its inaugural year, the Bride’s Choice Awards recognizes and honors vendors
from the WeddingWire Network that demonstrate an excellent quality of service,
responsiveness, professionalism, along with value of cost and flexibility. This
year’s recipients represent the top three percent of WeddingWire’s vendor
community, which includes over 100,000 wedding vendors from across the US.  Buffalo had several winners in
categories such as Flowers & Décor, Reception Venue, and Photography.

are excited to launch this annual award program to honor high-performing
vendors based solely on the experiences of our WeddingWire community,”
according to Timothy Chi, WeddingWire’s Chief Executive Officer. “This year’s
recipients have set the bar high, exhibiting excellent service and expertise in
the wedding industry.”
