Fowler’s First Family Show Begins

Meet the First Family, as artist Peter Fowler envisions
them, at KEPA3 Gallery.

As told in this earlier BR post, Fowler was inspired to paint the first family the day
after Obama won the presidential election.

“I wouldn’t normally paint politics, but this event was
inspiring,” Fowler said.

Perhaps it was the coincidence that Fowler and Obama were in
the same freshman class in Pasadena, and are the same age. Perhaps because they
are both parents of young children. Perhaps because of energy that transcended
politics.

The Painting, “Globetrotter,” shows Barak Obama
delicately balancing, what appears to be a basketball upon his right
forefinger, with a serious and focused gaze.  Fowler has captured much significance of both historical and
personal interpretation in this image, as well as its title.

“No Autographs Please” is the title of the works,
plus an introduction of a series of “The Cuddly Rambling Puppy”.

The puppy issue has taken the country by storm, and Fowler
muses that “Subconsciously, the puppy series showed up, so I painted
them.”

Original oil paintings will be on display at KEPA3 Gallery,
and you can also take a souvenir home.
8 x 10 reproductions of the paintings on canvas will be available
starting at $40.

Opening: Friday, January 30th   6PM – 9PM.
The show continues until February 17th
