Live to Eat’s motto, Celebrating food and the pleasures of eating and
life, sums up the feeling of the blog. Many Buffalo Rising readers
will recognize Michael Franco as a YUM contributor (here are a few of
his pieces). Now most of his writing is dedicated to Live to Eat.
The motivation for LTE came from the desire to remain connected to
friends and family who live out of town, but resulted in an even deeper
connection with those still in the area. Franco has been a hairdresser
for 35 years and after getting the ‘hair talk’ out of the way,
conversations in the chair turn to “food, movies, pregnancies;
whatever’s going on in women’s lives.” A week or two after a chat like
this, he would often receive a phone call requesting
the name of that restaurant or specific recipe they had discussed. Now
his clients, friends and family simply refer to LTE.
The blog balances a personal touch with helpful information. Franco’s
sincerity and enthusiasm come through loud and clear. References within an entry are often backed up with a link or explanation, and his
recipes are very easy to follow. In addition to featuring food, Franco
tries to incorporate other art forms insisting that eating should be a
well-rounded experience, much like life.
After reading the mouth watering posts, be sure to check out the
extensive list of links along the right side of the blog. Franco has
personally compiled interesting sites and articles that showcase every
angle of food: local farm tours, internationally renowned chefs,
cutting edge restaurants, art and artists.
