From Hoss: “Is Kabob and Curry opening at the old Mondo location on Elmwood, or Main? I haven’t been to their primary eatery on Transit, but I hear they serve the best Indian food around.”
Kabab and Curry will open in about two weeks at the former Mondo Video location… approximately mid-December. I understand that it will be more of a take-out operation than the existing restaurant located on Transit Road. It appears as if the Transit eatery attracts a lot of university students who don’t always have adequate modes of transportation to make the haul. Rather than denying the students their Kabab and Curry, the operation opted to open a smaller satellite to accommodate the young clientele. Soon, the University District will have some cheap and good South Asian dishes (with an emphasis on Indian and Pakistani). The satellite location will be much smaller than the Transit eatery, offering fewer dishes – the capacity of the Mondo space will be 22 or 30 customers. From an entry on TravelConsumers.com:
“What makes the trip to Kabab & Curry worthwhile, according to my wife, is their dosas. They look like 24 inch in diameter light tan crisp crepes on which a mixture such as cooked seasoned potatoes are placed. The dosa is then folded and served on a plate. The presentation is beautiful at Kabab and Curry. Over the couple of years that I have been eating at Kabab & Curry I have tried to sample as many items on the menu as possible. I have yet to be disappointed.”
Kabab and Curry Express will soon be located at 3268 Main Street.
