Condominium units at The Whitney, 65 Whitney Place in the Historic West Village, are now selling. Sunset Bay Park’s condo-conversion project has received the approvals to begin marketing the six-unit development. Prices start at $129,000. An open house will be held on Saturday.
Built in 1898, the three and a half-story, Italian palazzo-style building is located in the West Village Preservation District. The exterior features decorative brick quoining and splayed brick arches. The project is being undertaken by Sal Zambito (Holy Cupola!) and Tim Sick of Sunset Bay Park, Inc. The Whitney was one of several current West Village apartment buildings that were originally built as hotels for the Pan Am Exposition.
All of the units are two-bedroom and one full bath with1,093 sq.ft. of living space and a base price of $129,000. Exposed brick walls, high ceilings, insulated glass, recessed lighting, six-panel doors, closet lighting, dishwasher, updated plumbing, basement storage areas, sprinkler system, and forced-air heat/AC are standard with each unit.
The model suite has upgraded bamboo hardwood flooring throughout, halogen lighting, arched windows, a bedroom ceiling fan/light, white raised panel cabinetry, custom stainless steel countertop, stainless steel French door refrigerator, and six-burner natural gas range. It is priced at $149,000.
Parking will be available at a ten-space surface lot at 239 Carolina Street. The “eco-friendly” parking lot was approved by the City last week. Units are expected to be ready for occupancy in December.
An open house is being held this Saturday from noon until 4 pm.
