Though AM Radio may be a little out of fashion, it tends to be the place where a lot interesting start-up, classic, talk shows, and news programs find comfortable homes and a wide listener base. That is certainly the hope to the latest program joining Hometown 1230 AM WECK Radio: Buffalostyle! . The new program will launch this Saturday, October 18th at 9 AM.
Buffalostyle’s tag line is “It’s Who We Are” and will be hosted by Christina Abt, who created the show in 2007, utilizing WNY Media Internet to broadcast more than 20 shows. Through her Internet radio show, she was able to have guests like JoAnn Falletta, a mom in need of round the clock care nurses for her newborn son, an award-winning quartet of musicians from Williamsville High School, Donna Fernandes, Patti Novak, Roy Wixson, and Lisa Block Rodwin.
Now, Abt will be hosting musicians, singers, and songwriters to round out her new program on 1230 AM. Abt’s program will give musicians a chance for on-air exposure while promoting local talent. In a quote from a press release about the new program, Abt said, “Buffalostyle is designed to promote positive stories about the people in WNY that are often overlooked and which definitely can encourage all of us to see our community in a different, and positive, light.”
Listeners will be able to take part in the show while they listen by calling 783-WECK or sending an e-mail. If you’re interested in sponsoring the show, you can contact Abt at her e-mail address.

Sometimes the authors at Buffalo Rising work on collaborative efforts in order to cover various events and stories. These posts can not be attributed to one single author, as it is a combined effort. Often times a formation of a post gets started by one writer and passed along to one or more writers before completion. At times there are author attributions at the end of one of these posts. Other times, “Buffalo Rising” is simply offered up as the creator of the article. In either case, the writing is original to Buffalo Rising.
