In an effort to shed some of the summer BBQ pounds, I have been attempting to embark on a daily walk. I was strolling north on Elmwood this past weekend and happen to find myself perusing the shelves of Inspiration Point. At the present time, I could not explain what led me to stop my pace and enter the store, but in retrospect, I think it was meant to be part of my path [metaphysically speaking] that day.
Inspiration Point has a wonderful, peaceful energy. The space is filled with positive books, music, crystals, jewelry et cetera. I purchased a really cool candle created by Phil James –aka- “The Candle Man”. Phil has been creating awesome candles for 30+ years and IP is only one of two locations in the city to carry his works.
I had a really uplifting conversation with the owner, Sandy St. Louis [love that name!]. The store has been open since September of 1997 and is pretty much a mecca for spiritual folks in Buffalo. The business cards in the photo represent a myriad of spiritual practitioners from all over Buffalo and WNY – “No plumbers allowed on this board”, she exclaimed in her peaceful demeanor. Inspiration Point is a great resource for positive people, with a wide range of backgrounds, to network. It’s quite refreshing.
I had to ask Sandy about the store’s name because anytime I previously walked by, “Happy Days” came to mind. The name just came to Sandy one day and is inspired by a magical area of Letchworth State Park. “This is Buffalo’s version of a special place in the city”, she exclaimed, and I can not agree more. Sandy communicated to me that people will stop by and just take in the calming energy, explaining to her that they really have no intentions to purchase but are drawn in by the soothing energy. Even the scent is special.
One of the awesome benefits of living in Buffalo is stumbling into one of these unassuming places and really having a special experience. When the timing is right, slow down, breathe, smell the roses a bit and stop in and say hello to Sandy. I think you will be happy you did.
Inspiration Point is located @ 483 Elmwood [between W. Utica and Hodge] – 716 883 8670
