Grassroots Gardens Harvest Celebration

ON OCTOBER 16th 2008 – Come celebrate and get to know more about Grassroots Gardens of Buffalo, a non-profit organization devoted to the creation and support of community gardens throughout the city, where vacant property and blight have decimated many neighborhoods. These gardens bring people together and empower them and their neighborhoods to create places of beauty, hope, peace and productivity.
From 5:30 to 8:00 pm, Grassroots Gardens of Buffalo will be holding its second annual fundraiser, The Harvest Celebration at the Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum at 453 PORTER AVENUE. Admission is just $25 for members and $30 for non-members, which includes unlimited food and beverages for the evening.
Enjoy beer and wine donated by local businesses, as well as the delicious hors d’oeuvres donated by local restaurants and garden-fresh appetizers from our community gardeners. The celebration will include a raffle (you don’t want to miss the sweet bicycle being brought by Blue Bicycle), a recipe give-away, and a slideshow of the community gardens.
The Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum is the perfect atmosphere for socializing and enjoying a relaxing evening with friends. On display in the Museum will be an exhibit of various original copies of nineteenth century novels, including one or more by Mark Twain.
Last year’s event was a complete success, and we are excited for this year’s celebration. Please join Grassroots Gardens for this wonderful event to celebrate the hard work and dedication of our community gardeners that are making Buffalo a better place!
