Although power outages at Ralph Wilson Stadium prevented some of the game from being televised, I did enjoy the parts of the game that ended up on my television set.
Buffalo won their fifth game of the season by beating the San Diego Chargers by a score of 23-14. It seems safe to say that Trent Edwards has fully recovered from the concussion he suffered two weeks ago. Edwards completed 25 of 30 passes for 261 yards. Lee Evans made an extraordinary one-handed touchdown catch in the second quarter to put the Bills ahead 10-7. They took a 13-7 lead into halftime.
The Chargers pulled ahead in the third quarter, but the Bills regained the lead after spectacular run-blocking led to a Marshawn Lynch touchdown. Late in the fourth quarter, linebacker Kawika Mitchell emerged as the defensive star of the game, first by intercepting Philip Rivers and later by causing Rivers to fumble. Mitchell single-handedly made sure the Chargers couldn’t stage a comeback.
All in all, it was an impressive win for the Bills. I only wish I had seen all of it. So, Bills fans, what are your thoughts after today’s victory?
