Buffalo’s Central Terminal is the place for two very different events, the first two Saturdays in August.
On August 2nd, the Buffalo Federation of Women’s Clubs is having a Wine and Dessert Tasting. Then, on August 9th, the Central Terminal Restoration Corporation is having a “Blues, Brews and BBQ.”
The event this Saturday, August 2nd, will be the first of its kind for the Buffalo Federation of Women’s Clubs. The event is being held to support the upkeep of the Breast Cancer Awareness Garden in front of the terminal. The garden was planted in 2004, an idea of the Club’s Beautification Chairwoman Pat Klebes.
We started it from nothing, with our own money and we can’t afford to keep it going,” said Carole McDade, member of the Buffalo Federation of Women’s Clubs. “We are out there every week, weeding. The neighbors are wonderful too; they love having us in the neighborhood,” said McDade.
In addition to the Wine and Dessert Tastings, the event will have 25 vendors with everything from jewelry and flowers to handmade beads. There will also be a farmers market outside in the driveway and a Chinese auction inside.
The cause for this event hits close to home for most of these women. “Most of us are breast cancer survivors,” said McDade.
The event is being held from noon until 4PM. Tickets are $15 at Chateau Buffalo on Hertal Avenue, or at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/37169.
On Saturday, August 9th, the Central Terminal Restoration Corporation is holding its first “Blues, Brews and BBQ.” The fun begins at 4PM and continues until 10PM.
“Last year we were a part of Brewfest, which moved to HSBC this year, so we thought it was a good opportunity to try something different,” said Bernadette Majewski, of the CTRC.
The event will certainly have enough entertainment, food and beer for everyone. The bands performing include Jony James Band, Mick Hayes, The Speedy Parker Band and Tommy Z. There will also be a Silent Auction and Photo Gallery. The food there will be from Suzy Q’s BBQ Shack, Ike & BG’s, and more. The event also features Flying Bison Beer.
Proceeds from the event will go directly to the Central Terminal Restoration Corporation. “It will go into the general fund and we will dole it out as needed,” said Majewski.
Tickets for the event are $10 presale or $12 at the door. $10.00 tickets are available at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/37252. This is a 21+ event.
