The Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus continues to creep up Main Street. According to today’s Buffalo News, Kaleida Health is in talks to lease the former Bryant & Stratton buildings located at 1010-1028 Main Street.
The row of buildings, located on the west side of Main Street near North Street, are in the Allentown Historic Preservation District. Ellicott Development has owned the properties since 2004 and had been considering conversion of the site to a mix of commercial and residential space.
A one-story building at 1008 will be demolished to create a 39-space parking lot. The Buffalo News has the details on Kaleida’s planned expansion:
Kaleida is in final negotiations with Buffalo developer Carl P. Paladino to lease a three-story, turn-of-the- 20th-century building at 1010 Main St. for outpatient clinics. That deal could see Kaleida occupying the vacant, 36,000-square-foot structure by late 2009.
The hospital operator is also interested in leasing the Paladino-owned, four-story building next door, at 1028 Main St. That circa-1900 structure was a long-time classroom building for Bryant & Stratton business school…
Kaleida has not made any final decisions about what clinics it would locate in the 1000 block of Main Street, but the outpatient dialysis center, now housed at Buffalo General, is among the leading candidates.
The City Planning Board will be reviewing the plans for the parking lot on Tuesday, July 15.
