Some simple-minded people around the country believe that it snows in Buffalo 12 months a year. If you were to peek at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center’s calendar, you would think those myths were being substantiated when you see a group of snow and ice experts coming to the Queen City in June (see details here).
The Snow & Ice Management Association (SIMA), a trade association for those in the snow and ice industry, will return to Buffalo to host its 11th annual Snow & Ice Symposium, June 18-21. More than 850 people will attend the 4 day event that will feature a trade show, speakers, and educational sessions for professionals in the snow and ice management industry.
“In our field of work, Buffalo is highly revered for the way the region is able to manage snow and ice,” said Brian Birch, Assistant Executive Director, Snow & Ice Management Association. “So it’s only fitting that we have our annual industry trade show in a city where many of the experts reside.”
This is the second time the show is being held in Buffalo, having come here once before in 2003. Taking place at the Convention Center, the Symposium will feature a 2-day tradeshow, over 20 educational sessions, guest speakers and many more activities. The 4-day show will also generate a significant amount of business for downtown restaurants and attractions.
“Our members play a major role in keeping communities safe during winter storms, and the Symposium is a great opportunity for contractors to stay up to date on the latest technology and safety practices,” said Birch.
The Snow & Ice Management Association, Inc. is a trade association for those who manage snow and ice. SIMA ensures professionalism and safer communities by helping those who manage snow and ice master essential skills and practices.
